I've read that after 6 weeks with a pelvic fracture, the pain would be less. Yes, I agree. I can feel a change coming. I used to be able to walk 30 minutes every day before I fell, and I really miss my neighborhood walks. Throughout this period as I've been dealing with this injury, I've known that it is very important that I walk and not let my left leg (where the injury is) atrophy.
Hooray! At this point, I can walk about 15 minutes without a walker. And, I hurt every step of the way in my groin area. I used to be able to walk all over the town. Frustrating!
Let's talk goals:
I have 6 more sessions of physical therapy before we change health insurance companies when my husband retires and we'll both be illegible for Medicare.
Goal #1: I want to be able to pick up things without excruciating pain if I drop something on the floor.
Goal #2: I want to be able to bend over without pain
Goal #3: I want to be able to get up off the floor in case I fall again. There's nothing worse than falling and not being able to get up and call 911.
Goal #4: I want to be able to roll over on my side in bed at night without pain. I'm not used to sleeping on my back all night, but I can't turn either way without horrible pain. When I wake up in the morning and attempt to stand and walk, it takes a lot of time to get rid of lower back pain from sleeping in one position all night long. I'm so painfully stiff in the mornings--a stiffness I've never experienced before.
